A simple guide on how to fit your Gameboy Macro Lens on an Original DS (Fat Version) of a Gameboy macro build, referred to as a Gameboy Macro FATTY
What you’ll need:
- Gameboy Macro Lens
- Original Nintendo DS (MODEL NO.: NTR-001)
- 2mm Neoprene rubber adhesive strip
Start by
removing the digitizer from the DS LCD

Take the
neoprene foam and cut to match the sizing of the black sticky pad already attached to the LCD,

Line up
the Lens in-between the top, left and right indentations of the front shell. Once positioned score along the bottom edge of the lens. Now you have your cut lines

Choose your
weapons of choice to cut the bezel. My preference is to start off with a Dremel to cut as close as possible while removing the majority of the plastic, then to use a file to get a fine and precise cut line.

Once your
system is back together, you can drop in the lens, be sure to make sure everything is dust free. I like to drop the lens in first so it’s preassembled for later.

Please note this Gameboy Macro Lens is originally intended for the DS Lite system so bezel alignment will not be perfect with this modification straight out the box,
You could order a Clear glass version and have your desired print on the lens with your custom aspect viewing window. I’d highly recommend Bluish Squirrel for this kind of custom lens undertaking
I have tried to provide as much illustrative detail so it can be presented in its simplest form.
Always take care when performing any modifications.
